Popcorn, Rev Limiter and Hardcut Applications
We set the rev limit, hard-cut behaviour and the popcorn sound at the limiter in software to suit your use.
01 What is it?
The rev limiter caps the highest engine speed. Hardcut is a hard limiter that abruptly cuts fuel or ignition at that limit; popcorn is the characteristic sound created by intermittent firing at the limiter.
02 What we do
We set a safe rev limit that stays within the engine’s mechanical limits and prepare the limiter character (soft cut, hardcut, popcorn effect) to suit your use.
03 Process
- We read the vehicle and the relevant control unit; on most vehicles via OBD, without removing parts.
- We archive the original software.
- We prepare the software for your vehicle and load it.
- We run a check afterwards.
Frequently asked
How far can the rev limit be raised?
It depends on the engine’s mechanical design and we do not exceed the safe limit. Often the goal is not to raise rpm but to adjust the limiter character.
